I absolutely loved my stay at La Fora!! The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great with vegan and vegetarian options at breakfast, tapas and dinner. Beautiful surroundings, bird watching (king fishers regularly visit the pool), and the pool deck is so serene and gorgeous. Highly recommend.
Great place and concept - whether you stay just to chill at the pool, for work remotely or to explore Fogo Island - I did it all in just 5 days! 🤩 The staff is super-friendly and hosting and the bungalows are very comfy (I was staying in bungalow no 6). Unbeatable the dinner of 3 courses for less than 15.000 CVE. I guess the pictures speak for themselves…
Giving a review is all about personal perception and what you're used to get. La Fora Eco lodge is a great place halfway up the mountains in the middle of beautiful green trees and plants and nature. The garden here is amazing. Looking over the ocean, with a view on the next Island of Brava, the rooms are very private. For the location and the way the owners set this whole place up, 5 Stars isn't enough. But 5 stars is all I can give. We came from 2 other places with a very high standard in comfort. Compared to what we had last weeks, the housing here is very simple. The bedrooms are not spacious but they are big enough. There's no place to store your suitcase so that has to be put under the bed. There is a shower with cold and hot water but the sink only gives cold water. For guys who wanna shave, you'll have to do without a mirror and shave under the shower. The staff is silent. The only 3 words we got in 3 days was: "your passport please". If you ask something they look at you and you'll have to pray to the Gods they understood. There's no connection at all. No replies or signs of understanding. Very strange and awkward. The food is okay. It tastes good and it's enough. But it's also a bit of the same every day. You have a choice between 2 starters and 2 main dishes. Breakfast is also simple but okay. If you come here for nature and to explore Fogo La Fora is really a great place to stay. If you're all about high standard rooms and a big choice in different foods, go somewhere else. As I said at the start, a review is all about what you're used to have and personal perception. The day I arrived, my rating would have been a one star only. But the longer I stay at this place, the more I get to appreciate it. The rest, the unstressing, the nature and the owners who are very enthusiastic and very helpful. And their WiFi is really great as well. That's also very important to say. Only the mosquito nets are a bit too small for usage on a double person bed. It's a fight every night to get it right and not to feel trapped or to be bitten.

The eco lodge is AMAZING! With spectacular scenery, immaculate landscape and views for days!! The owners are hands-on, very friendly and accommodating to ensure a great experience. Our stay was so relaxing it was like an oasis in the middle of paradise. Breakfast is included with a wide variety of options. Dinner is optional but as it is prepared daily, with local fresh fish, and vegetables, we ate at the lodge every night; which also gave us the opportunity to enjoy the restaurant/bar patio and picturesque sunsets. The staff are friendly, attentive, and work hard to keep the guests comfortable! Much admiration to the owners Ellen and Aaron for practicing an sustainable environment /property and giving back to the community.
